At Hughes Design and Construction (HDC), we take pleasure in helping clients build their dream home from the ground up. Building a custom home is a detailed process with many decisions along the way to the finish product. HDC works side by side with you every step of the way facilitating this progression. Our approach to Construction Management allows you to play an active role in the building procedures and guide you through all the phases of the design build process. We make sure that your individual tastes are understood and accepted in each phase, while we monitor you budgeted cost.

Site evaluation

Whether you have a property already or need HDC to help you evaluate different properties, we are available to assist you.

Site planning

After your land or lot is selected, a site plan is developed and the building parameters of your future home are determined with input from you, the architect and HDC. Building and zoning ordinances and restrictions vary in different locations, and our experience in this process is invaluable.

Home Design and negotiations

Once site location and orientation have been established the design of your dream home begins. This process involves you, your financial institution, HDC, the architect and many other skilled contractors. Rough estimates for the cost of your home are provided for your assessment.

Construction Management/Open Book Pricing Proposal

When we build your custom home, we work with an open book pricing program. This is otherwise know as a construction management cost plus fixed fee based service. This program allows you to control the budget by working directly with HDC on the design and its impact on the budget. You have control of the budget. A construction based software program allows us to provide an ongoing worksheet for every phase of the building process.

Contract to construct your custom home

1st project

Once the blueprints are finalized and everyone agrees on a budgeted cost, HDC and you, the client, enter into a contract.

Home Construction

HDC will build your home using the highest quality materials your budget permits. We will finish your home in the most timely and efficient manner possible. During the building process, we realize you may want to make some changes along the way and we will accommodate these changes as they arise. On a weekly basis the customer is provided with a spread sheet documenting: expenditures, budgeted cost and remaining balance.
